Spring time fills many lawns with edible flowers, such as the dandelion and violets. The timing is often so impeccable it's as though mother nature and the greeting card companies got together for it. Rather than a chemical spray down or pull- and- toss on the weeds, instead turn them into unforgettable gifts to those mothers in your life. Doing so is surprisingly simple and very easy to involve kids.
So far my daughter and I have enjoyed making and drinking flower tea, sprinkling petals in salads, making frozen flower ice cubes, and candied flowers. Next we hope to dry some in order to add color to herbal tea blends and maybe we will venture into making flower liqueur. For those who do candles and soaps, they can be added there too.
