I give this shovel 10 out of 10 acorns. It's a really nice little shovel. It's small. It's small enough that my 1.5 year old daughter and my 4 year old son can use it. My son actually dug a 3 foot deep hole with this thing! We've had one for 2.5 years, and it still works great. It was originally purple on the handle, and the color faded to blue, but that's not a problem. Despite being left out in the rain (and it rains a LOT here in the Pacific Northwest!) it has no spots of rust. The plastic hasn't deteriorated at all. It's a great shovel for kids, and it's heavy-duty, unlike most shovels that are aimed toward kids.

And, it's not just the kids that use this shovel. I use it a lot, too! It's great for getting compost out of my compost tumbler, stirring dirt in a wheel barrow, scooping dirt/compost/mulch from a wheel barrow and applying with accuracy to a garden bed. And, I can dig with it, too, in a pinch (when I can't find my normal-sized shovels, I use this!). It's, of course not as nice for digging if you're an adult, because it is so small. But, it does dig!

I really "dig" this shovel. If you're looking for a shovel for your kid who's between, say 1 and 9, this is a really great shovel. It's durable and you can steal it from your kids, too, for those tasks where it's a lot better than a full-size shovel. We all love ours so much that I just bought a second one so my daughter has her own, and my kids can't fight over them!
