I lent my copy of the Earth Sheltered Solar Greenhouse book to a friend of mine, who I think wants to build one as animal housing rather than to use as a greenhouse.  He was disappointed that there were no figures given comparing temperatures inside and outside the greenhouse.

I know there are going to be an awful lot of variables and it's a bit of a 'how long is a piece of string' question, but does anyone have any figures I could give him?  Or a graph?  Or something...

I have no data, just experience howerver, I built a greenhouse / animal shelter somewhat after the earthship designs. It did work fairly well for where we were. We used to be at 9500 feet elevation in the colorado rockies where the winters were long and cold, but the days were sunny. If the temps got below 0 f. we did have freezing, but above 0 we could have temps up to 50 -60 in the afternoons. Summers we needed alot of venting to keep the temps down.
