No cob building for me, but...

Hopefully, the Mudgirls don't have tornadoes in BC but we sure do in Colorado and Oklahoma on the Great Plains, so no cob for me. But their book's table of contents leads me to believe I should read the book anyhow and learn to build like a woman! I look forward to acquiring a new kinder, gentler mindset about working with others in community. I wrote a 20-page paper last year about building tornado-resistant earth houses and it looks like concrete stabilized compressed earth blocks are the way to go if you want to avoid massive amounts of concrete and wood. With proper connections from floor to wall to roof a house built within certain parameters can resist (that is, stay together during) an EF 3 tornado.

nope. no tornadoes. but i saw one once in ontario. scary and amazing at the same time!
all i know is that sometimes no house is strong enough.... underground is good. dark, but safe from flying cars, cows, and BBQs! good luck to you!

ya, our book is about so much more than building. it is about getting out there and doing things, not waiting for anyone else to tell you can. it is about finding your people and shifting the messed up capitalistic patriarchal lame-ass system we are stuck in.
