This was my Thanksgiving dinner.
I spent the day deep cleaning my kitchen, then cooking and enjoying this delicious meal.
My son went to his dad's for the holiday, so it was just me and our 2 pups.
Lots of leftovers for the next 2 or 3 days! I used up some aging stuff in my fridge/freezer that I cleaned out today, and some of the green onions I had re-planted from the store (let's see if it grows back again!), and some fresh rosemary I have growing in a pot on my porch.
Happy Gratitude Day, everyone! ❀️πŸ₯³
I am grateful for my little family, and how God has provided for us through hard times.
I found a picture of my dog Banjo when she was a puppy, OMG she was so cute! She still is, but now she's getting to be an old lady. So am I πŸ‘΅πŸΆ

RECIPE: Potato Corn Chowder

Ingredients
-2 lbs (5 med-large) Yukon Gold Potatoes, diced
-2 large Carrots, sliced
-4-5 cups Corn Kernels
-1 Onion, diced
-1/4 Cup Cheese (cut small or shredded)
-1/2 Cup Raw Cashews
-1 Cup Milk
-3 Cups Veg Broth
-1 TBS Butter
-Seasonings: Salt and Pepper, Powdered Paprika, Dried Tarragon, Dried Thyme, Powdered Onion (1/2 - 1 tsp each)
-Chopped Green Onions and rosemary for garnish

Instructions
1-Saute carrots and onions until translucent
2-add potatoes with pinch of salt, cook for a few mins
3-add corn and seasonings, stir well.
4-add broth. Boil until potatoes are soft.
5-Blend the milk, cheese and cashews with 2 cups of the chowder. Then add it back to the pot to make it creamy. Adjust seasonings as desired for taste.
6-dish up and garnish.

.... let's not forget what turkeys are grateful for today ::: vegans, lol ....
I recently bought a spray can of oven cleaner, and have been reluctant to use it because I didn't want to breathe in the fumes.
I didn't know baking soda alone would be so effective! I guess I wasted some money (doh!), but at least I saved my lungs
Not everything came off - there's still some grease stains on the door and window, but overall it made a huge difference. ✨

Well, this chore was way overdue!
I used distilled vinegar infused with cloves and cinnamon.
The organic waste went into my compost bucket (I live in an apartment, but I volunteer at a community garden where I take my food scraps), the non-compostable waste went into the trash can, and the stuff that was soaked up with the rag was washed down the sink.

Yup, I spent Thanksgiving cleaning my kitchen. Because I am so very thankful for my son and I having a cozy place to live; it deserves to be clean.

I have only very small spaces with hard flooring, so I haven't invested in a full size broom - I just use a small hand broom.

I don't have a dishwasher, so I always wash the dishes by hand, and dry them on a rack on the counter.
I used Castile Soap, which is made with natural plant-based oils.
I rinsed the dishes over the tub to catch the water: the total water used appears to be somewhere between 1.5 and 2 gallons.

This is a very large rectangular planter with a 2+ year old pepper plant plus some newer babies. I diluted fresh PP approximately 10:1, and slowly poured it in a central spot between the roots of the smaller plants, to hopefully encourage them to grow as big and fruity as the large woody mama plant to their right.

I'm the only person who eats peppers from this planter, so hopefully this won't be cause for any complaints (shhh!) ☺️

According to growveg: Pee-Cycling for Gardeners, a 5:1 ratio might be more appropriate for peppers, so maybe I'll experiment with denser applications as time goes. 🀞
This seems like a good place to test out posting images, so here goes..
There is a spigot in the corner of a room with an earthen floor, which was unknowingly leaking for a time (perhaps a couple weeks), and it caused that area of the floor to puff up a great deal. Any input on how to fix it?
