Biography
White single Christian woman (60) with homesteading skills and a passion for gardening seeking similar traits in a single Christian man. Seeking sincere friendship and Bible study partner. Who knows where it could lead?
From post: I'm healthy, fit, non-smoking/no drugs, non-vaxxed and would enjoy meeting a guy with the same background for friendship, possibly more. My interests are growing food, permaculture, homesteading, raising hens, cooking, baking, gardening, and sewing. I live in a rural small town in California and work 100% remote. I am considering moving to a location with more acreage. I'm open to relocating with preference to the west and southwest. Send me a message and say "hello!"

Hi Dan, I very much appreciate the advice! When you say "frost free" do you mean like this type of hose bib?

dan hazlett wrote:Planning is the most important thing you can do.  Knowing that the plans will change is probably the most important thing you can know.  I would suggest running some pipes well underground to multiple frost free hydrants.  This way you have water wherever you may need it.  This is my plan, anyway.  Then map it out, take measurements, etc, so you can find the pipes again.

I've been reading so much about permaculture, and didn't know that for years I was doing it. Well, small scale (like a hugleculture) , but wanted to create more of a sustainable food supply where I let nature do most of the work. An I lazy - lol? One issue I've come across is that the "experts" are divided on whether permaculture is different from a food forest. I'd be grateful for any help to settle the issue, if you are able. Thanks.

Hi all, I'm in the process of moving from my rural home (on a small lot) to a bare land purchase in need of septic, well, and electric hookup. The electricity is at the lot line, the well is in place, and the septic needs to be installed. I plan to bring in a new or used modular home or mobile. Other than rainwater collection (and the weather), I'm wondering what watering systems I should put in place early in the process? If you have advice or resources, I'd be grateful for the information. I found some great ideas for laying things out on the YouTube video, "Stunning Tiny Permaculture Backyard Kitchen Garden with 30 fruit trees" YouTube

Does anyone here plant the "three sisters method" for corn. I am in zone 9a and have had some luck with heirloom yellow corn. Next year going to try Hopi Blue. Any pointers?
Is it me or do people post these in permaculture singles then disappear? Dave received a lot of replies, but it doesn't seem like he answered them. Maybe he "DM" ed them? Anyway, just wondering if that is one of the downsides to this particular singles forum. Idk.

Paul Wheaton is spot-on. Greenhouses really suck. But are there any circumstances that we can make them suck less? Maybe. I currently live in an area that gets geoengineered constantly. Analysis from geoengineeringwatch.org indicates the materials used by planes for "cloud seeding" are laden with toxic chemicals - which means they'll fall on my crops. So, I feel compelled to cover them to help reduce their exposure. Granted, it is not hazmat sealed, so they will get some exposure. But, if I can reduce it, I'm going to try. I've done hoop houses, lumber framed, etc. I don't get mold or a great deal of pests that can't be mitigated naturally, but yes, there's a little more work from time to time. On "safe to open" days, I do that. Keeping it simple helps. Hope this helps anyone else who could be discouraged from greenhouse food production when permaculture is in its infancy on your land.

Hello, my name is Lisa, and I'm a 60F. A bit of an introvert at first so it's hard to meet new people who are like-minded. I'm a Christian and very active on my small property. I'm healthy, fit, non-smoking/no drugs, non-vaxxed and would enjoy meeting a Christian man of similar age and interests for friendship, possibly more. My interests are growing food, permaculture, homesteading, raising hens, cooking, baking, gardening, and sewing. I live in a rural small town in California and work 100% remote. I would consider moving to a location with more acreage for the right person. Thanks for reading this!
