This is a small nursery that grafts their own (mostly) and tends toward varieties suited for temperate eastern climates. Many appear to be localtrees that have been grafted and sold, and as such are not available from other sources.
Really! Their grafts are rock solid, and many of the prices are so low it isn't worth buying rootstock and grafting my own. They have rust-resistant apples and pears and they grow in an area that has all the fireblight you could wish for.
I have ordered from them twice, and have been very impressed. Survival rate in a very low input system have been 100%, while those from Stark's, Jung's and Edible Landscaping have been modest at best. I assume they are growing in very alive soils and do an excellent job shipping. It appears to be a labor of love. I get no compensation from these guys, just wanted to let people know about it, NOW THAT I HAVE MY ORDER IN!!!
Standing on the shoulders of giants. Giants with dirt under their nails
I just want to say about goumis, I have one full-grown goumi from Burnt Ridge, and four goumis from Hidden Springs.
The Burnt Ridge goumi is bigger and has more goumis, but they're quite small (and also very tasty).
The ones from Hidden Ridge took longer to produce, and their amounts of goumis are sparser, but the goumi fruits are much bigger, at least twice, maybe three times the size of the Burnt Ridge ones. And they're delicious.
