This is a badge bit (BB) that is part of the PEM curriculum.  Completing this BB is part of getting the straw badge in Round Wood Woodworking.

As your roundwood construction skills are improving, it's time to make some tools.  Let's try our hand at making a simple shovel!

And here's the Townsend crew making just what we're looking for:

Minimum requirements:
  - Make a shovel or scoop
  - Thin edge to dig easier
  - At least 3 feet long
  - At least a 7" wide shovel/scoop head
  - Head is curved or edged to hold material (not a flat pizza peel shape)

Provide proof of the following as pictures or video (<2 min):
  - Log chunk you're starting with
  - Blank roughed out
  - Midway through making the shovel or scoop
  - Finished shovel or scoop showing required measurements

Let's go to the waterfront with this tiny ad:
