In the U.S., if you make less than $66,000 per year, you can use free tax preparation software (brands like H&R Block or Turbo Tax) via the IRS's Free File program:  https://www.irs.gov/filing/free-file-do-your-federal-taxes-for-free.

    This article from 2015 is a bit out of date for some things (such as the wage limit for the IRS free file which has gone up), though it's a pretty good run down of e-file options.
