International Speakers Forum on Sustainability

Oct. 12, 6-9PM at the U of M in the University Center Rooms 326-327

The University of Montana Office for Civic Engagement is teaming up with Pull Together Now! and Seedlings of Change to host four guest speakers who will share their experiences in creating a sustainable world during the International Speakers Forum from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 12, in University Center Rooms 326-327. The event is free and open to the permies.

Speakers include Annika Dopping, a well-known and popular environmental journalist, filmmaker and author in Sweden; Lars Larsson, an engineer, inventor and researcher of sustainable indigenous knowledge will tell about his experience blending timeless knowledge with modern technology for sustainable solutions such as his  water project with the Masai in Tanzania; Kelly Franklin, founder of Sustainable Smiles, who will talk about her work with youth in Thailand, Cambodia and Austria; and Mike Robertson, senior policy adviser for British Columbia’s Cheslatta Carrier Nation will share his experience in a historic 12 year international campaign which forced the cancellation of the Kemano II hydroelectric project, the complexities of cultural recovery and balancing sustainability with economic survival. Following the speakers Dopping will moderate an open discussion on creating a sustainable world through collaboration.
