Looking for some suggestions for choosing hardwood varieties.  I live in SW Colorado Zone 5/6.  What would the native varieties be?  Are nut trees an option here?  We have lots of water and very rocky soil, although the topsoil is in great shape and lots of legumes in the fields.  Thanks for any suggestions!

zone 5/6 should grow nut trees but I'm not familiar with colorado's soil and climate.

I'm in zone 4/5 and have several baby nut trees growing here.

also most fruit trees will grow in our area, but I do watch the hardiness zone suggestions when I buy
