Hi! I have been thinking about trench composting this year. Thing is, I don’t know anyone who has done this.. and conversations with those who have done it really make a big difference in the learning curve

I have the basic concept down.. dig a trench 12-18” deep and as wide as i want. Fill it alternating with food scraps, soil backfill... I am planing on using a little bit of fall leaves as well.
Here are my questions:
1. i do have chickens however and they use pine shavings.. can i use these as well in the trench?
2. Can I use these trenches to plant my vegetable garden in the spring?
3. If so, What month do i need to stop using my trenches completely so I can plant in the in the spring?
4.can i use seaweed in this style of composting?
Thank you so much for reading. I love composting, bunt just don’w Have the time to properly care for a pile
compost.. really looking for a lower time commitment compost style.. that doesn’t cost me money!
