Who we are:
We are a small
intentional community in Anderson, Indiana. Currently we are three adults and one toddler. We have a 3000 square foot house that we own and have been renovating mostly by ourselves since 2013. We own three
city lots adjacent to our property where we are doing some gardening/reforesting. We started out offering hospitality to the homeless and realized that wasn't right for us/our town we started hosting concerts and
art related events for
local bands and artists. Now that we have a kid we are wanting to focus more on projects which don't involve staying up past 10 or living in close proximity to people actively addicted to drugs/alcohol. Our shared interests/likes include: lower tech living, foraging, wild crafting, bicycling, independent local music and arts. We all are hoping to live closer to the
land and inspire others to do the same and also to live a brave and creative life doing more of what is meaningful to us and less working for a wage/zoning out on a phone/computer.
The possibilities:
Because we are in a transition time and aren't sure where exactly we are going from here this seems like an excellent time to invite someone/multiple someones new into the mix. We would love to find someone excited about doing more food/medicine production with the land we own or even building on it. We would love to find someone who is interested in organizing classes, workshops and events that will inspire others in the community to live the lives they most desire rather than settling for work in retail, depression and disconnection from other humans and the land. We are also interested in finding new ways to offer resources/support to those in need in our neighborhood. We have two empty rooms right now but we also have about 900 sq feet of open space in our building which could be converted into more rooms or a separate apartment. There's space for an RV, trailer or small dwelling in the
yard as well.
What we are looking for:
Someone, a couple or a small family that is interested in helping us start new projects and utilize our building and land more. Someone who enjoys living with other people and preferably has
experience living communally or in a large family. Someone who likes starting and leading. We are open to short term stays or forever housemate/s. We would need someone to bring in a little bit of an income to put towards shared meal expenses/utilities if they were interested in a long term stay. We need new ideas, fresh
energy and more companionship.
