would like to meet some permies in north central washington

Erica and I live in tonasket wa not far from skeeter. However we dont know many folks and would like to get a read on who's who her in our area. We went to the seed swap and met a few folks and would like to meet more.
We have a few skills we can trade and eggs (lots of eggs, free range chickens are laying about a dozen a day so we have lots) organic feed, no hormones, no layer mix, none of that stuff. the chickens get scratch, scraps, alfalfa, and whatever they can catch. let us know, give a shout.

We are still going to have the Permaculture Study Group meeting on Friday Feb.17th at 6pm (pot luck too) at Skeeter and Peter's house in Tonasket, there has been a fair amount of interest in this meeting from folks I have talked with. So, if you can come, you will meet more Okanogan Permie types (a lot of them are also Okanogan Slow Fooders and some of them are in Green Okanogan too, our crusading recycling group). Recently I posted a message in the permies » forums » building » green building forum, "Okanogan Highlands", in which I mention you folks because not long ago my friend Diane Emerson sent me the link to your video about the rocket mass heater that you demonstrated in your living room. Love that video! I believe Diane is a contributor to the cause.

I recently bought land near Chesaw. Right now I am continuing to live in Portland, Oregon, but I am making preparations to move to near my property A.S.A.P. I've been working on getting a diesel truck, checking Craigslist and ebay, and getting an apartment, been filling out applications for that. I plan on moving within the next couple of months (I hope!).

Just yesterday, I saw Paul's 2 hour 39 minutes video of the talk he gave down in San Diego earlier this year. Wow! What a guy!! The length of it screwed up my plan for the day, but not a problem. That unexpected treasure was certainly well worth it!

Well let's stay in touch. I am determined to become your Okanogan County neighbor!

I'm thrilled to find you all. We're relocating to Okanagan highlands within months. Grew up in Stevensville MT but been a flatlander for too long. Looking to glean your wisdom and community. We wanted to raise babydoll Southdown sheep (I spin) but we have lupine everywhere.. Adjust, adapt....

Hello, I've been trying to find a way back to the Tonasket/Oroville area and am looking to find a group that is already living on the land and might want more help or others who are wanting to get on land, not sure how else to find like minded people hope it is OK to ask this way. If you can help please let me know I'm very experienced working with the land. Thank You.

Sorry for revivng an old thread but I am in the process of relocating somewhere between Republic and Danville and would love to meet like minded individuals.

Hi Herman! Lots of permies out here, I think... I'm in the Colville area.

I am living near Republic a bit higher in the mountains and have survived the first winter so far I am getting ready to move into a larger home with acreage and luckily I already have a chicken coop in place though a garden will have to be placed though my wife has been reading a lot into "the square foot garden" ideology and is really loving it. I want to dig/sink a greenhouse into the ground a bit and heat it in the late winter via a rocket mass stove. I am hoping my wife (who was an educator previously) whom is a homemaker to take some classes in Tonasket. While the area is to cold for a true cob construction I hope to incorporate the building technique into future projects. Also I am hoping to get her over to take a course on rocket stove construction. Of course all of this would help us connect with other people in the area as we are really marooned not knowing anyone here.

I am the organizer of the Okanogan Permaculture Study Group, we meet on and off in and around Tonasket, WA. We study permaculture, have gatherings sometimes and enjoy gardening and permaculture. Coming up, Skeeter (Michael Pilarski) will be giving a day long workshop on 1,000 alternative crops for gardeners and small farmers, suggested donation $20, but no one will be turned away. Bring your bag lunch. It will be held in Tonasket Feb. 26th Thursday. If you want info details on this, but don't want to be on the Permaculture email list , just let me know, I will email you the info.

Hope you were able to attend ernie and ericas intro to rocket stoves a few days ago (which id have loved to have gone but I work during the weekends) I know I am still active and I live in Ferry County and am becoming more and more permaculture oriented by the day it seems.
