Paul about this Name thingy

Hey Paul,
Recently we received an email with a reminder about names on the site.Which was appreciated
But well how does one go about doing a name change??? We use the Happy House, because it is the name that we have used across the internet since we were dubbed with it a few years ago.. .People in the Flathead and Lake county know us not as Mary and James but as the Happy House....When we teach alternative gardening and living classes we are known as the Happy house as well,,,We also both post here sometimes together as one is cooking or serving wine while the other is typing answers.. We always sign with our names,,,,, How important is it we change our names to something more mundane and not one whom anyone we send here will remotely know..

We have some other threads in this forum talking about this. But, yes, each account needs to sound like the real name of a person. Mary would have an account and James would have an account.

There have been some people that are not comfortable with this and we have simply locked those accounts.

When you go to some houses you are asked to not smoke. You are in my house and, in a way, I am asking you to not smoke. I respect that you really like smoking, and you have smoked in other homes. About three people have said "I'll smoke in your house if I damn well feel like it!" and i have locked them out.

You could actually add the Happy House reference in your signature (which you can set in your profile) so that people can still relate you to Happy House.

LOL,, well guess that means we will have to make some name changes,,LOl since neither of us smoke,, and tend to respect others houses..
It will make it more challenging when we refer people from other groups who have known us for years as the Happy house, That is what makes it more uncomfortable for us...
..Hmmm guess we will have to go by who is drinking the wine and typing versus who is answering questions and serving the wine and cooking ..Lol

At the top, click on "my profile" and then you will see a form - click on "Name change request form"

I've been reminded that this software started at CodeRanch. So the software still supports a feature where a person could have a custom cowboy title for $50. I suppose we could do something like that here. The custom title would appear immediately under your name, just like "steward" does for me. And your title could be "Happy House".

Recently, one of the stewards spent a fair bit of time asking somebody to change their name to something that sounds like a real name. In the end, this person didn't and the account was closed. This person then wrote to me to remind me that I don't like other people telling me how to live my life, so am I not practicing what I preach.

I admit, I am not okay with people telling me what I am allowed to: think, do within my own home, do with my website, do with my videos, do with my podcasts.

I did not tell this person what name they can or cannot use on their website. Nor do I require them to use my website. I do make it clear that if you want to publish stuff on my website I am cool with that as long as it meets my comfort zone.

If the owner of reddit deletes my submissions, that seems fair. If another user of reddit does things so that my submissions do not show up, I am not okay with that.

I'm paying the bills. I get to make up whatever goofiness I want. And there are people that think that is cool, so they hang out here and visit. People that don't like it go somewhere else.
