Hey all.

I need to know the best option.

Silver lined microfiber towels OR highly concentrated colloidal silver soaked cloth & left to air dry.

I need a secondary layer to my DIY activated charcoal layer & microfiber layers for my mask.

Can't claim to be qualified to really give you the best answer here...

but two thoughts...
- silver soaked cloth may be a bad idea because the silver won't ever be "bound up" in the cloth and you may end up breathing in oxidized silver dust...  Silver is a heavy metal.  So... that could be 'all kinds of bad'.

- silver lined microfiber towels may provide a minute(my-noot) amount of action in a respiratory sense... but probably fairly small.  i would guess that their density or coverage is minimal and just helps to prevent a contaminated damp cloth from turning into a moldy cloth blob (okay ... so they prevent microbes from spreading freely...bacteria and all... but again: they are designed for water/washing purposes more than air filtration).

if FASHiON is of no concern... two cross-layered microfiber towels will probably provide a decent amount of filtration. THey will probably catch any 'spittle' micro-droplets carrying COViD-19. Whether or not the silver content will be enough to neutralize all the captured COViD-19 is uncertain.  But they will be pretty bulky.

Hopefully more of an expert will chime in.

Peace

Thats what I'm worried about.

I do want the silver layer in front of the carbon layer rather than behind and closer to the mouth.

Looks is no matter of concern. I want it to work.

Because buying decent filters is no longer an option.

Our local city just took all the 9n5 masks and up to save them for emergency personnel. Filters are becoming alarmingly expensive daily.

Like, up 20 dollars for n99 in 1 week kind of expensive.
