a Master Gardener taught me.  Works great in summer, slower in winter.

Get a trash can at least 33 gallon (or 125 liters), with a hole saw drill about 3 holes in bottom of container for drainage (and insect, worm, etc. entrances).

Fill with up with any ratio or greens or browns up to 100% for either.  Pop the lid on the container, park in Sun, and let it break down a lot faster!

We dump a lot of stuff on ground.  That is if not making compost.
