I have a dog pen made from wire panels (chain link?) which sits on a concrete slab. It's 6' x 5' x 10' and was wondering if could use for a weaning pen. I could put in one of those igloo dog houses with straw and use a tarp for shade. I live in a rural area and have used the pen in the past for chickens with no problems with snakes or raccoons What are your thoughts on using the pen for weaning kits?

I think you're going to have to add some finer screening - maybe chicken wire - along the bottom,  to keep them from getting caught in the fencing, and ensure there isn't any way they can squeeze out, under the bottom. Cinder blocks or something pushed up against it, from the outside should help. As long as you don't have any predator pressure, this sounds like a great solution.

Thanks. I see what you mean! The openings in the wire are 2.5 x 2.5 inches so escape seems a real possibility. I think I'll put plywood along the inside bottom maybe 10" high and brace with cinder blocks. For the gate, I'll weave in some wire to make the openings smaller.
