New here, advice for my trees please? Trifoliate Orange / Persimmons / medlar

Hello all,

I am new here but I have like many here have a passion for growing plants ( trees mostly ) this year I thought il try some new things, persimmons, medlars, and trifoliate oranges.  But seems I'm having difficulty with them and I thought il ask for advice from people with more experience and passion

So first of all my meddler tree leaves are burned and I don't know why I have been watering it almost daily since there's quite a heat going on, it's like their drying on the tree.

Also one of my persimmons have yet to leaf out, is this normal? I have 3 of them and 2 are good their the Fuyu variety and I still have a Rojo briliante variety that does not want to leaf out and I'm quite worried. ( they are very hard to come by in my country )

And the most important thing right now for me is my citrus ( I'm in zone 7b ) so I have planted 3 trifoliate oranges 9 they grow just fine in my country, I'm from Europe since I know people have been growing them for years ) but the same as the meddler the leaves are getting burned especially at the tips and I don't know what I'm doing wrong.

Hi, welcome to permies!

Is your property extremely sunny? Mine is, and my medlar and trifoliate oranges burn too until they're established. Mulching helps but only does so much. They get stronger as they get older.  Creating shade may help, though they still want full sun (though actually I think I've read that medlar can do alright in part shade).


Persimmons often leaf out last,  though they may have died, as they can be kind of finicky.

They might die, but they also just might get stressed and lose leaves for the season. Keep them mulched and watered and try your best to create shade if possible. Certain trees are useful for this, usually nitrogen fixers. Here we use black locust for example
