Hi everyone !

My boyfriend and I are very new to permaculture and we are literally in the first phase of starting our own project : research ! We are trying to combine a permaculture project with an eco campsite/small B&B offering mountainbike tours and maybe yoga in the future. At this moment, we are reading tons of books and doing research online but the main question remains : where are we going to start our project ?! I am Belgian, David, my boyfriend is Argentinean and we currently live in New Zealand, so plenty of options ! In fact too many. We love mountains and lakes and David is a downhill mountainbiker so we are looking for a mountain place with a moderate climate. For now we have following options in our head
a) Slovenia: love the country, the people and the nature and permaculture is already quite developed according to our research. Plus, it has increasing tourism but it still fairly cheap compared to western Europe
b) Patagonia, Argentia: lots of mountains, lakes and cheap to start a project but the country is less stable and permaculture might not be very known yet (which could be negative or positive)

Does anyone has any feedback on those 2 countries to start such a project ? Other options are very welcome as we open to everything at the moment!

The area around El Bolsón in argentina has lots of permaculture projects and natural building going on! Plus great for mountain biking etc

Welcome, Anse !  Great to have you here at Permies!

I have not been to either spot, but I would be inclined, time and money permitting, to spend some time in each location and see which speaks to you.

That said, seems like NZ is a pretty awesome place to do what you want to do as well - must be hard to leave there!
