Food Industry Convergence

I am sure that most people on the forum are aware of the convergence in the food industry, but I thought that this image was increadibly powerful at showing the connections. Might be an old picture, but I just saw it today.

Interesting picture, but it misses a point: Who owns those companies?

For example, Kraft is owned by Phillip Morris (tobacco), which also controls Miller Brewing, and dozens of US wineries.

Agreed, I am sure there are much more links to be made.

It is sad to know that a hand full of corporate giants own/control the vast majority of products in every major supermarket throughout the country. Even sadder, it that they are major contributors to political campaigns.

Good point, John! And don't get me start on the ownership of seeds by fewer and fewer companies and the patents on genes in foods/animals.
I watched a good documentary from BBC about GMOs, the biotech companies and the intimidation of scientists who show anti-GMO events/data. If I find it again I'll post it.

BTW, the biotech companies also pay poor farmers to 'protest' in favour of GMOs. They also have fake 'experts' show up in forums to promote themselves. I got that from GMOwatch.
