I got this spinning wheel from OfferUp and it has a few parts I don't see on other wheels from YouTube. The sticks coming out of the front? leaning over the fly, namely. It appears to be a two drive system. What's the thing that looks like a honey dipper?? The lady I got it from said she purchased it at a flea market in Germany.
I've only ever used a high whorl drop spindle before, so if there's any particularly helpful tutorial videos out there for this kind of model/system, please point me in that direction! Despite having zero idea how to actually use this, I'm thrilled to have it and enthusiastic to start spinning.
For now, I guess I'll just have to give it a facelift by sanding down rough parts, redoing the paint with some oil paints, replacing leather falling-apart parts, and then putting a coat of poly on it. I'm not sure if it needs oiling on the spinning parts (the part on the fly where metal spins in leather, for example)?
It looks like a double drive wheel that is really good at spinning fine yarns (like we would weave clothing from). It looks complete but might need a bit of tweaking and adjusting.
