I know some people use hot pepper spray to keep animals from destroying their gardens. I can’t seem to find any information about how they use it. Raccoons destroy almost all of my sweetcorn most years to the point where it isn’t worth growing. I only had about 30 early plants. I got five ears. I have a larger parch that will be ripe soon. I may put up a electric fence, but I am really looking for an easier option.  Would hot paper spray on the shucks work? They seem to bite the ear before they shuck it ,at least sometimes. I think they probably use their mouth and paws both to shuck it? Has anyone tried hot pepper spray? Shooting them isn’t an option because I live in town.

Make your own spray with Tabasco sauce, water, and some dish soap (it helps thing stick ).  Spray anything the creature would be interested in touching or tasting.  Re-treat after a heavy rain.  Be sure to wash things of before you eat ....unless you like hot soapy food.
