I want to be ready next spring if my ginnies lay again. This year they abandoned their eggs. I have 15 birds so i’m purdy sure i have males.
My question is will the 100 to $150 incubators work ok and is there a tested one in that range?
thanks

I tried one a few weeks ago.  The thermostat didn't hold well.  It would go a couple days (from what I saw) keeping the temp set, then it would freak out and pump temp up a few degrees too hot, then go back to proper temp.  I let it run the full course and actually did get two of 9 live chicks.

I returned it for a refund.

Spot, one of my hens, went broody and I gave her 7 eggs.  She didn't manage to hatch one... or she ate the chicks.  When I took her off the nest there were only 3 eggs left.

So, not doing well in increasing my flock.  Oh, I gave her the two from the incubator since she was due to hatch hers that day... Both had vanished next morning.

The one I tried was the MagicFly from Amazon.  I read a lot of reviews for all the ones they offered, and some from Tractor Supply.  None of them were without issues.  Appears to be luck of the draw if you get a working one.

I'd say try one and return it if it doesn't work right.  Amazon has a good return policy.

I have an incubator from tractor supply.  It works. But the hatch percentage is not that good. I have talked to others who have had similar results.  I do not present new hatchlings to hens.
