So I have about 6 acres of land I plan to work into a food forest. The work will be hard, but the most daunting task is how I will organize everything.

I was thinking about keeping a binder with plastic sleeves and paper or cards listing each plant, a description and maybe a picture, how to grow it, how to harvest, how to procure seeds, and the various uses and purposes of the plant.  Is this something to be recommended? Is there any systems currently available that I might see as an example?

Companion planting is something that will be very important as well.  I have a need to create an environment that is compatible and that is not hostile to any of my plants; whether it be from the animal life or the plants themselves. For having over 100+ variety of seeds, I've got to figure out where everything will go with each other throughout the whole land.  I think it would be easier for me if there were rules I might follow about the plant qualities that I might separate them into groups and plan those groups throughout the land.

Can I please hear all your tips and suggestions? Thanks!

Organizing guilds and spacing and patterns can set your site up for success. Unless the volume of decisions starts to overwhelm and hold you back. If you find that happening then just start planting.

I'm using aluminum cutout from pop cans for tagging each plant variety. If you write on it with a pen it will indent the tag so there's no concern of marker fading. I hope to find a great gps mapping software later on where I can log the plants but that's pretty far down my list of priorities.
