i'm looking for a list and wisdom about the best/most regen insulation materials and processes

i know it is dependent on climate, materials and style of house, etc

i am looking for various perspectives from
varying contexts :)

here is an article i found with a few interesting "green" alternatives: https://inhabitat.com/7-eco-friendly-insulation-alternatives-for-a-green-home/

Tough general question.
The questions are;

- where you live, what is available?
- what climate you are dealing with?
- are you installing it yourself or with labour?

i plan to build somewhere in the middle TN area. there are stores around which have most types of insulation. the climate is humid and mildly subtropical/deciduous type region. i am open to installing myself or with labor.

From a big box store, probably cellulose or recycled cotton.  The paper and cotton industries are both pretty atrocious, but are about the only readily available recycled products. So maybe not good, but the least bad options.

My choice would probably be wool, but even cheap seconds are significantly more expensive than cellulose.

Whatever you do, humidity management and mold control are issues in TN.

regen = most sustainable/regenerative material sourced from a process that is least ecologically damaging and ideally sourced in a way that creates a positive/regenerative feedback loop rather than a degenerative/negative feedback loop
