Apparently, anyway. The entire country's being buffeted by a rather horrible Southerly storm, so only those with access to really flash atmosphere-piercing astronomical kit will see it.
This is a bit of an event in NZ, since captain James Cook 'discovered' NZ for the British Empire while down this way to view the transit in 1768.
