HI, this is my first post, and I'm hoping one of you might have some insight. We have 4 Mulefoot piglets (our first litter), and three of them are exhibiting some eye problems. Two just appear to be irritation or pink eye, but one has me really worried. I've attached a picture to this post. To me the eye looks to either be ruptured, or this pink swelling is completely covering it. We are currently spraying it with colloidal silver, as well as the irritated eyes on the other two piglets. We've been keeping hey bedding in their shelter. Could the dust or a hay poke be causing this? Any ideas for treating? We can't afford a vet.
I don't have any pigs, but thought it might be helpful if you go on another site; homesteadingtoday.com , and ask in their pig forum. Hopefully you will get some helpful information.
Good luck with the pigs.
Curious if you ever resolved these eye issues? We have 3 mulefoot/mangalitsa crosses and today one of them has pink eyes with what looks like puffy pink inner eyelids showing.
I think I'll just lie down here for a second. And ponder this tiny ad:
