Do you find that some country music is meaningless dribble?

I listen to a lot of country music.  This one is fun though I can only call in meaningless dribble:

Hey Joe as sung by Moe Bandy and Joe Stampley

Mo and Joe were always fun and better together than solo.  No, it isn't Hank Sr. or Guy Clark... not deep or emotional...not Townes, Possum, Paycheck or any of the others who could rip your guts out with a song.  Not Tom T Hall or Don Williams, the storytellers.  But, it sure beats anything called country music these days!!!  I play country music and jazz - used to have a lot of friends among the older musicians and open doors in Nashville... real country isn't welcome anymore.... neither am I in Nashville.

I like the song and it is entertaining.  Every now and then it gets stuck in my head.  Hey Joe! Hey Moe!

They must be good friends.

You know, I think Carl Smith may have done an earlier version... I'm hearing his voice in my head anyway.

BTW, Left Frizzel wrote Moe Bandy's signature song, "Bandy The Rodeo Clown".  Lefty is always in the top half of my top ten!

I love that song, never knew it was Moe Bandy's signature song.

I usually like songs and don't always know who signs them.

That was the era when Lefty's alcoholism had made performing impossible.  He teamed up with Dallas Frazer and wrote a string of great hits for others.   I think the last one may have been "All My Exes Live In Texas" for George Straight.
