i took a college course on dealing with the varmits and i have yet to deal with the pesky rascals, i am going to talk to my illiterate neighbor and see if he can figure it out, anyone got suggestions? should i move the corn into the chicken house? i guess i could have a welder build a metal box, should it be lead or stainless cause i want it to last? do weasels have teeth that can get thru a metal box? i am pretty sure my illiterate neighbor can help, he has been around the block and is a millionaire on paper to boot, he dont like hippies much cause he is a redneck but knows his shit, must be that indian blood in him
I'm not sure I understand. Weasels don't eat corn. They eat rats and mice who eat corn. Weasels and ermine are good around the farm. Dogs are another good critter to have to keep rodents in check. One of ours is hunting a rat right now. Very patient. Soon there'll be a dead rat, then just dog poop.
I wonder if we're talking about two different species since weasels are purely carnivores from what I understand. We have two and all they eat is meat, or blood. Little vampires. Here's a Wiki page on what we call weasels:
I agree with Tyler. Weasels, ferret, mink, martin, fisher are all carnivores and as such are in there after the ones that are eating your corn. Sure, it could be argued that a weasel might nibble a kernel but it would make the little sucker sick and if it didn't die it wouldn't do it again. Also, cats are good on mice, rats and such.
