Howdy all, so it has been a while, I have recently taken a job with the state of Colorado at the Fort Logan campus.  WIKI PAGE If you go to google maps and search for it you can see the large amount of land in the complex. Look at the intersection of Lowell and Oxford . To the north and west, you can see lots of unused space. This is state owned land, with landscaping crews and buildings scattered throughout. I know that in the past I have seen posts from folks looking for the possibility of finding some land to create gardens, orchards, and a place to build community that would help grow food in this food desert area. I was thinking today, that this might have potential for that.

I am wondering if there is anyone here who might be interested in finding out if this area could even be used for such a thing. Not sure if the state would allow it . Just reaching out to plant the seeds and to see what is possible. Seems like there is a lot of land here not being used and with the right folks and the right contacts, it might turn into something.

Anybody have any ideas ?

Gilbert, I will let you know if they say they are open to it. It is state owned so the wheels turn very slow. I have done some web searches to find several local organizations who work as/in food banks, food deserts, community gardens etc so will be contacting them if it is a go also. Not sure if you have any contacts like this that would bring funding and people?

Thanks Miles!

As far as contacts, I'm just in the process of reaching out to other people involved in urban farming in the Denver metro for feedback on my plans to start a new CSA.

Hi! Did you ever get an update to this? I recently moved to the Denver areas and have been itching to get my hands dirty in a real good permaculture project!

This parrot is no more. It has ceased to be. Now it's a tiny ad:
