Hello I have a question! I have a baby red angus calf (bottle fed) who is healthy at the moment but I am wanting to avoid scours and I was told by a friend that bad gut health plays a big roll in scours. I was wondering if there is anything I can give her with her milk to help prevent it! Ex: Probiotics, apple cider vinegar, etc.

Welcome to permies, that is a cute calf.

I don't have any experience with kefir for cattle though a small amount might help.

Your friend sounds knowledgeable so what does your friend suggest?

I'm dealing with caprines rather than bovines, here, but I'm curious, and we had bovines, when I was younger. What has you concerned about scours, in a healthy critter? As long as the diet remains healthy, and your beautiful baby is healthy, there shouldn't - at least in my experience - be a reason to be concerned. Scours don't happen spontaneously. That said, I do add a small amount of raw, organic apple cider vinegar to all our critters' water supplies, for gut health. So, ducks, chickens, goats, and even my dog's raw food all get a small dose. In the water, I typically dump about 1/4cup into a 5gal water supply.
