Once upon a time, my father and I attended a fruit tree grafting workshop located in Jefferson's gorgeous Monticello.  That great workshop was hosted by a certain skillful man, Alexis Zeigler, who has a website called Conscious Cultural Evolution.

His site is www.conev.org

At the end of the workshop, Alexis shared that he had made a booklet, Perennial Food: Growing and Propagating Fruits and Nuts for the Home Grower.  It was a steal for only $10 hardcopy, and furthermore served as a wonderful memento of good father and son bonding.  Well...

His 54 page booklet is fabulous!

It's also made completely free to the public, courtesy of Mr. Zeigler's generous spirit embodying the 3rd ethic of permaculture.  I don't want to spoil the book, but I encourage you to go to his website, scroll down, and check it out for yourself.  There is an intermediate link near the bottom of his webpage "Perennial Food, Easy and Reliable Methods for Growing and Propagating Fruits and Nuts" which briefly covers how to access it.  It also offers information on how to provide a donation to Mr. Zeigler if you feel so inclined -- which I think you will after checking out his booklet!

Contents of the booklet include:
Part I How to Transplant and Grow Fruit Trees
Part II Food from Trees, What to Grow?
 Part III Propagating Fruiting Plants
 Part IV Food Politics

I can't wait to re-read it and actually put it to use!  Go check it out!
