Hello to all! New to the forum, but have been dreaming of homesteading for decades and have always continued to educate myself through the years. I have just acquired 15 acres of beautiful high desert land north of Los Angeles at 3500 ft in zone 9b. About 8 mature oaks, twice as many pine, sage and buckwheat are the lay of the land. There's a 2 bedroom block home that we are finishing up remodeling & a cozy studio that was also remodeled that my mother occupies. We own the property debt free & plan on keeping it that way. I've had my head buried in the projects in order to make the place livable & me & my 2 sons just moved in last weekend(although we're still under construction; escrow on my old place is closing this week). I haven't even had a moment to really explore the property as there's so much going on, but I want this place under full production ASAP. Thinking food forest with a bit of range as well. I want to get this right the first time & am looking for a designer to give me a plan that I can begin developing immediately & add to as time & funds permit. So, I'm reaching out to this knowledgeable community & asking for recommendations on someone with proven experience that can help me put a plan together. I would greatly appreciate any and all referrals that are near the Los Angeles area. Thanks in advance!

Daniel Halsey has done a few designs for similar climates portfolio

Permacultureeducation.org has a directory of designers here

There are a few other directories floating around the internet as well but I don't remember the website names off the top of my head.

Thank you kindly! Ole google didn't have much to say, but most likely because I wasn't using the right key words. Now I've got more to go on.

Thank you much Miss Wendy! A grand adventure it already has been & most assuredly will continue to be! They're local... I just sent them an email. Will keep you posted as I make progress.

He loves you so much! And I'm baking the cake! I'm going to put this tiny ad in the cake:
