I'm new hear and tried searching but couldn't find anyone that had tried the following:

I've been researching Sepp Holzer's Permaculture Hugelkulture beds and Paul Gaustchi's Woodchip Covering method. Has anyone tried creating Sepp Holzer's Hugelkulture bed and then just adding a woodchip covering on top of that? I think there are a couple combinations worth experimenting with, anyone have insights or personal experience?

cheers,

austin

I'm using buried wood beds with a topping of wood chips. Seems to be helping a lot with keeping the soil moist, though I have been irrigating a little.
