So I like the idea of the various peer-to-peer investing platforms for angel venture investors to directly help entrepreneurs start-up their businesses. However, when I went to the various peer-to-peer lending websites they all seem to be very technology oriented. Technology is fine of course, but all of the projects I see listed are anything but & far from appropriate technologies (ie. the types of technologies that permies are interested in); instead, they're all super-high-tech.

Question: Does anyone know of any Socially responsible investing (SRI) or Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) or regenerative investing that is peer-to-peer?

Could permies.com be a peer-to-peer, regenerative permacultural lending platform? Perhaps a sub-forum of the Digital Marketplace?

Also open to other "alternative investing" ideas, but would really like to focus the thread on regenerative peer-to-peer lending.

Personally, I'm not into investing in AI or big greenwashed & CSR-washed "ESG" / "SRI" portfolios.

[Dear moderator] If this thread needs to live somewhere else I understand. [/mod note]
Thanks in advance.

Check out the concept of savings pools. We've got lots of these in NZ and they're catching on in other parts of the world as well.

@Phil, loving the savings pool! Thanks for sharing; I know quite a few people that might be interested in starting one of those up with a local credit union account so I'll start planting that seed around here for sure. Thanks for the suggestion.

My partner just reminded me of a permaculture podcast we listened to a while back about "regenerative investing". The ideas were explained by a person representing an organization called Blacksheep Regenerative Resource Management:

Blacksheep wrote:We’re not just looking for investors. We’re looking for partners. In order for our projects to truly be considered “regenerative,” ownership must be broad (shared amongst many) and accessible to local people. This has inspired us to build relationships with people who are as passionate about finding right livelihood as we are. It’s up to each individual to decide that today is the day they will divest their hard-earned money out of extractive systems and invest in projects like ours that truly serve us – all of us. Is today the day?

- Blacksheep is looking for more than just investors

Anyone know anything / have thoughts about these folks?

Feel free to PM me if you have questions. I give workshops on pools here and have helped people start them up in the US as well. The one my family belongs to is sort of our virtual intentional community and has made a lot of things possible that would have otherwise been just plain hard (or expensive).
