Tara, what part of Texas are you in? We have property/housing about 25 miles West of Fort Worth. Looking for someone with similar values to have as an accountability partner or even reside on the property permanently. We are a family of 5, 3 adults and 2 children.

Feel free to email me jeffrey2882@yahoo.com

Hey Jeffrey, thanks for your message
We are currently a little south of Texarkana.
I would definitely be interested in finding out what you have going on and what you're looking for, and your property and situation in more detail.
I have quite an extensive list of experience.
I'm currently off grid, but get internet every day or so.
Replies might be a little slow, but will definitely reply.
Thanks
And in case I'd be in town with internet (lol)

Tara,

Thanks for your response.    We recently moved from the Utah suburbs to live in as much of a free State as we could make work.  That landed us just west of Fort Worth.  We moved in June 1st 2021, and are still getting acquainted with the area.  We have little experience with the practice of permaculture, farming, creating our own resources, plant, animals, etc.  However these topics have been of interest to us for a while. We just figured we would have to get out of our suburban lifestyle and get our hands dirty in order to really start this new lifestyle.  Last year was the wakeup call we needed to make such a huge move.  I transfer my job in order to keep the bills paid during our transition, which keeps me working 6 days a week.  Side-note*  I actually travel to Marshall 3 days a week so I'm guessing that's close to you.  We are in the process of putting a few homes on our property to rent out in order to provide financial stability so I can leave my traditional job and homestead/homeschool full-time with my spouse.

I recently posted the following elsewhere on permies.com. I figured it would give you a better idea of what we are about. Let me know what you are both looking for and offering, and maybe we can collaborate or work something out.  You definitely  seem to have some of the skills that could be useful to what we are trying to do.
Here is that previous post:

My name is Jeff.  My wife, 2 small kids, and sister-in-law are in the process of starting a sort of mini eco community.  We will have housing opportunities available beginning around September 2021-April 2022. Our property is 13.5 acres about 25 miles West of Fort Worth, Texas.  We will have available a 1,000 square foot 2/bed 1/bath home for rent.  Also (2) 2 bedroom/1bathroom 650 sq ft homes.  We also have a full service 50amp RV pad.  Amenities we are currently working on will include a gym, art studio, library, music studio, and craft room.  We also have A large insulated shop that has HVAC and a 3/4 bathroom that will be a community gathering area.  The property has a large 1+acre pond, windmills, solar power, a few tractors, multiple wells and is full of wildlife.

Our guiding principles will be based on community, liberty, and permaculture.

We are non-denominational, peaceful, sometimes drink & smoke, are responsible, eat meat, work hard, and play hard.  We respect any differences you may have, but you must be good with how we choose to live.  Respectful conversations on ANY topic are however always welcome.

All ages are welcome, and diversity in age offers great value, however we do have a 6 and 2 year old, so having a few more children around would be an extra benefit, but is not required.

Although this will be setup more like a typical rental agreement at first, Options for long-term ownership for the right individual/family may be possible.

This opportunity will not include required involvement, however we are willing to open up most of the property to grow food, and raise animal which would require collaboration.  We really would like to work together with a few like minded people to share in these designs, responsibilities, and mutually benefit from the results.  We are new to a lot of the practices involved in permaculture, and are still in the observational and planning stage right now.  During the next 12 months we are planning on digging swells, improving access, planting trees, and gardens and getting a few different species of animals.

Rental terms are TBD.

Skills that may be helpful include:
Building/Construction
Teaching (for homeschooling)
Medical/nursing
Permaculture design
Plants/herbs/natural medicines
Butchering skills
Mechanic skills
to name a few

Feel free to email me if your want any more info or have any questions.  If you are interested please tell me a bit about yourself.
Thanks,
Jeff Sadler
