rookie mistake - planted into fine ground wood chip mulch

I picked up what I thought was a bed of compost from an organic facility. I dumped and spread it into last years beds and planted lettuce, radish, carrots etc. At the time it was still pretty damp but a few days later I went to check it out and the texture was dry, crusty, aka not compost. So I called the company and turns out they had filled my bed with fine ground woodchips. It is my dang fault for not noticing that it was not compost but now I am wondering if any of the seeds are going to successfully germinate. I only put about an inch or two. What do ya'll think? will they germinate?

If it's that finely ground, I think your stuff will mostly germinate. But the wood chips will suck up nitrogen like crazy as they decay, and the seedlings may look sickly. I would put nice compost on the edges of the planted area right now, and start watering to feed both chips and seedlings.

BTW, I think the compost should be provided by the company that dropped the ball.
