Ginger is amazing stuff!!
I slice some thin (skin on) and simmer in water for about 5 minutes for a spicy tea. Add honey to taste and YUM. This can be a base to add other teas to as well - I personally don't care for the taste of green tea, so when I feel I should be drinking that, I use this ginger simmer to make green tea, and it tastes a lot better to me.
It's good for muscle (menstrual) cramps, digestion and stomach ailments, and taken before a trip can really help with motion sickness (if you need it - my sister discovered that her severe motion sickness is much relieved with this). It can also help with arthritis and headaches.
It can be peeled and chopped, added to sauté's for flavor, or added to soups and stews.
Sautéed with butter and garlic it makes a wonderful start for many savory dishes, and smells heavenly.
Some research indicates that enzymes in ginger can help the body break up and expel gas, providing relief from any discomfort.
It may also help alleviate the symptoms of a cold or the flu due to antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.
So many awesome qualities in this ugly little root, and it's low in calories too.
Life doesn't always follow the plan.
No, I'm not all-right - I'm half left!
