Hello,

I am new to this site and so far I like it.  I have a question about my new electric fence installation.  I installed a high tensile 17 gauge electric fence.  I have shielded 12 1/2 gauge wire that I used for my grounding rods connections/energizer.  I am going to attach a live wire from my solar energizer to a location on my fence wire.  Should I use the shielded 12 gauge and attach it to my 17 gauge wire fence?  If so; how do I go about doing that since the thicknesses are different?  I have looked at crimps, taps and clamps for this connection.  I have not seen anything so far that would be able to hold both thickness of wire successfully with a good connection.  Is there a better way to connect the hot wire from the energizer to my fence?

- 17 ga high tensile fence wire
- 12 1/2 ga shielded wire

Thank you for your help!

use either a wire rope bolt or a circular wire joiner often supplied with fence systems.

Thank you for the reply.

I could use the below connector to join my 17ga high tensile fence wire and 12 1/2 ga lead wire?

Thanks!!
