Ahoy people! I wanna address soybeans and the benefits of them in gardens, not just at farms. Soybeans can play a major role in a nutritional diet if done rightly, but also play a vital role in our soil and things of that nature. Somebody please help me describe the benefits of soybeans in our gardens and our diets so I can better understand. Also, drop me some more history of soybean use in daily society back then. Adios!

It's an interesting topic, and I imagine there are many benefits -- not the least of which is the amount of calories you can grow. I see there are a number of suppliers of non-modified naturally bred varietals. That's what I would want to try. And far from commercial farmers' fields to avoid accidental cross-pollination.

Heads-up, though: soybeans are a touchy topic around here because of the modified and licensing issues (which are huge in the US). If the conversation goes that way, it disappears or is relegated to the Cider Press.
