Two of my favourite treats as a kid were a version of '
ants on a log': celery sticks filled with peanut butter with dates pressed into the top, and
apple slices with dates and cheese. To make it more grown-up, I'd add walnuts or pecans
Dates are wonderful in winter salads. Say, feta, nuts, dates, bitter leaves like radicchio and maybe balsamic vinegar.
Moroccan tagine: especially good with mutton; plus plenty of preserved lemon, and loads of parsley at the end.
Couscous: olives, dates, onion, spices, garlic, kale, more preserved lemon and parsley...
