Hi,

I'm Athena from BC, Canada. I recently moved back to the old homestead. I'm on 10 acres in a very rural part of central bc. I'm here with my 89yr old father. Keeping an eye on him while he can still do work around here.

I'm looking for someone I can talk to and possibly make a future with.

Hi,

There is not much to manage at the moment. It used to be a hobby farm, but after the kids moved away and my mom passed, my dad has just been keeping up the house and stocking wood for the winters. The plan is to make it a farm again. Once the snow melts I'll be on it lol

Hi Athena. 53 year swm here from Eastern Ontario. Your mention of an 89 year old dad triggered me to reply. My dad is 89 too so but has dimentia. Mom is 86 but in the hospital and may loose toes due to poor circulation. Their property is 10 acres too.

Siblings and I will have to likely put Dad in a home as he can no longer take care of himself and mom can't anymore.  That day we always knew was inevitable is fast approaching and I am a bit bummed.

You are to be commended on going back home to take care of your father.

Best of luck to you.

Bumping this thread and updating as well.

I'm no longer on the homestead. I couldn't find work. My father is still there. It's been difficult for us kids to leave him on his own, but he can't/won't leave. It would be great if we, or rather I, could find a way to make a living there.

In the meantime, I'm back down on the Lower Mainland and working at an equestrian center. I'm still searching for my forever person to build a life on a farm with. Not holding my breath, but, ya know, hoping.

Hope all is well with you. Feel free to reply or send a message even if you'd just like some conversation. I have some free time now as I will be recovering from hip replacement surgery

Hello Athena,
My name is Christopher. I am 49 and live typically in Coquitlam bc. At the moment I am up in the Yukon. I pick morel mushrooms from late May until August, and then pick berries until mid September. I usually make enough money during the summer to relax during the winter etc..
I have children, they are all grown and gone. My parents are elderly and live in Alberta. I grew up on the farm in Alberta and moved to bc as an adult.
I will put my email here so if you would like to talk, please feel free.. Wishing you a speedy recovery from this hip deal✌️.

Christopher

Happy New Year folks! Bumping this again. 2023 was a year of healing for me. First from appendicitis and then having a hip replaced. Back at the homestead now keeping the parental unit company after he had surgery on his right hand. I'm still looking for my match, but not focusing too much energy on it. Whatever happens, happens.

Hope you are well and thriving
