Angora fibre from the angora bunny (other animals are called angora, but their fibre goes by a different name)

It's a fun fibre, but like the bunny on Monty Python, can be a bit tricky.

This thread is all about angora, but it also has another goal.  A few youtube fibre friends and I got together with the goal of making a video about our own experiences with Angora just in time for Easter.

The first video is out.  Great details about knitting with angora and how and why it behaves the way it does.

Mine comes out on Thursday.   Nowhere near so educational,  but full of cute bunny substitutes.

And here is my video.   I was inspired to recreate a moment from my past and made a project video showing some of the techniques I use for working with angora fibre.

Oh look, more bunny goodness.  It feels like Easter (although angora is good year 'round)

I had no idea there was such a thing as fake angora.  The more you know!

I was less impressed with this one, but she's still learning both her fiber crafts and vlogging, so that's kinda unsurprising, and I'm sure she'll do better, as she learns. I know there is a vast market for faux fur/fibers, too - but, since I'm trying to get away from that stuff, it kind of contributed to my not loving this one, as much.

Yes! But, I truly hate when people sell crap, geared to beginners - no matter what the skill is. All that does is discourage folks - sometimes completely & permanently - from even trying again. At worst, it can discourage them from trying any new skill. I'm glad she didn't use it right away, or it may have turned her off to spinning, entirely.
