Can somebody tell me if i schould use my compost right away when the structure is good and finished or leave it over the winter time it is fall now in south europe and i think i schould start spreading it overe the land
And also if you leave it in a pile what happens does it lose nitrogen or keep on composting ?
Any help would be apresiatated
If it is now finished, further exposure to air (oxygen) will cause many of the nutrients to vanish into the atmosphere.
Also, any remaining bacteria/fungi in it will die if left exposed to the harsh winter airs.
If it is worked into the soil, it will improve water retention as well as insulating the soil, thus allowing those 'critters' a fighting chance of populating your soil and working it for you over the idle season.
Ok that makes sence i wil start making raised beds I am realy antheusiastc i just found a hand full of compost worms in my compostpyle i took them inside for the winter
