Uncle Mud Tour of Liberator Rocket Heater's New (to them) Factory in Historic Bourbon Missouri.

   

I've been following these guys for over six years now giving their stoves a serious workout and showing them at the Mother Earth News Fairs and Permies.com Rocket Heater Jamborees. I've even installed them for clients where it was a good fit for their heating needs. I have the bragging rights to pairing the Liberator with a thermal mass bench before they did. It works very nicely btw.

At last count I had around 30 Liberator videos on my Uncle Mud channel. Somewhere around here you can even find an early video of the tour I did of the shed where they produced their first UL listed Rocket Heater ( https://youtu.be/lEOYX_lCcfU)  This factory the Liberator folks are rebuilding in central Missouri is a little piece of the work that needs doing to rebuild manufacturing in the US and keep valuable manufacturing machinery (and know-how) out of the waste stream.

The Liberator isn't perfect but 1) it works and 2) it burns pellets or wood scraps without needing electricity and 3) it is actually in production, and 4) your insurance company and your code guy will not have a problem with it. It is currently the only UL safety tested EPA approved rocket heater woodstove in the US . Those are major milestones for commercial, wide scale adoption of clean burning rocket heater technology. Mine helped me reduce my heat bill in my doublewide trailer home in Cleveland Ohio from $1000 some months for propane to less than $100 per year in hardwood flooring scraps.

I love my Liberator. It took about six weeks of burning and a couple of chimney reversals because I am burning in a basement without the fresh air intakes hooked up to feel like I couldn't live without it now.

Long burns with the pellets (8 hours)
Short burns with cordwood (add softwood every fifteen minutes to keep it really hot)

For emergency heat I think this is pretty near perfect. For heating your home all the time you need either a constant kindling chopper or pellets. Still cheaper than using propane or electricity in our area even burning pellets all the time.
