Howdy! My name is Liza and I am a Teacher in Dallas county. I would like to create a homestead on a property for sustainable survival as well as mental needs. I have lived in the city all my life and crime, debauchery, and overall weirdness of city life is starting to get to me. I am ready move away!

All though unsure if I am ready to go fully off grid, I am looking for a 10+ acre plot with water on the property. I am looking to put animals, bees, and vegetable on the property, Eventually, I would love for it to become a market garden or U-pick farm.

I have not fully decided on location, but picked Texarkana due to the cottage food laws of AR, but residents are exempt from the AR state tax

Are you interested?
Got advice?

Hello Liza! I would love to connect with you. Im currently in Arlington, Tx looking to relocate to East Texas. I have been looking for 10-20acres myself.  I attended the Tx Land Summit in Bastrop and that’s how I found my way to this site. Paul Wheaton was one of many guest speakers. Hilarious and very passionate btw!

I would love to be able to bounce ideas and thoughts off of.

Hi there,

You're on the right track and your reasons are sound.  I'm in East TX and living the farm/homesteading life.  I don't know where your journey will take you but I'm always on the lookout for like minded folks in the area.  I'm putting out feelers for getting people together to have picnics and get-togethers from time to time to discuss our issues and unite.  You sound a bit frustrated and I hope you will find what you're looking for.  I'm always around to bounce ideas, I've been doing this for awhile.

Peace
