Permies Digital Market has to do this for digital products, or else we can get in a huge amount of trouble with tax stuff. I plan on offering a Gumroad option for this and my other digital market items shortly, so that the option will pop up for international people when they go to order this.

In the UK ebooks aren't taxed at present (other digital products are, but they dropped the very unpopular tax on ebooks), so UK buyers should be able to buy the book as there would be no tax liability imposed on Permies or the author under the current tax laws.

I need to look into Gumroad as an option for my own ebooks, as they take care of the tax collection.
