Hello all

Im bouncing a lot of ideas around recently Just trying to conceptualise the stove.. At the moment i dobt have time to add thermal mass or a Bell but i hope to do this at a later stage.

So this would be a 6"system. Which would comprise of a steel j tube lined with ceramic fiber board both inside the burn chamber and riser. On the outside of the riser i plan to use either more fiber board or ceramic fiber blanket. The j tube will need to be lined prior to welding as accurately as possible.

For the burn chamber i plan to use fire brick splits for durability.

The radiator will be made of an Old steel central heating drum and then stove pipe fitted close to the base to a length of around 4 meters before exiting at the wall.

If anyone has any ideas or suggestions or sees any issues with this design please feel free to comment.

Thank you

Did this design ever come to fruition? I have a similar idea as this one. I want to build a stove from fire brick as shown in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OJ-gOr3iQ4k. Then I want to cover it with a 55 gal steel drum.  Then I would cut out a hole near the base and attach a 6" stove pipe.

The firebrick stove in the video is for cooking only. If you want to use it as a heater, you will get much better results building a J-tube combustion core (detailed instructions in many threads on Permies).

On my planet I'm considered quite beautiful. Thanks to the poetry in this tiny ad:
