I worked so hard to get out of my small little town I grew up in.  Enlisted in the military before I completed highschool.  Canner home to get a degree and pursue the American dream. It took me about 20 years to realize that there's nothing dreamy about working for someone else to help them achieve thier dreams,  so you can have a few years of your own for retirement.

Homesteading has been a goal of mine for sometime.  I'm impartial to new age homesteading (workshops,  Airbnb,  csa/ farmers market,  but find a cabin in the wood very romantic as well.

I've been looking at land from NE Texas to Virginia.  It seems to be the most viable option to not be tied down by a morgtage. I am open to other locations,  that's just been my search area.

What I prefer is to produce as much consumable goods to reduce the shackles of money/ society. Garden,  orchard,  livestock,  poultry,  etc.
Possibly rehab an old farmhouse,  or build from scratch.
A ceramics studio would be lovely.
To name a few goals.

Most of all,  I want the freedom to make quality memories with my partner.  To build a life we can share and look back on,  instead of remembering the 20+ years spent apart,  laboring for someone else.

I just got on here today,  so I'm sure there's more to add.  Just wanted to get this posted so I can find you.
Feel free to message and get a conversation started.

You know you've made a good post when someone (me!) makes an account to be able to respond.

I'll send you a "mooseage" ... we have very similar hopes for this true quality of life.

Looks like a good way to start something.   I'm in a different situation out in Canada and so I don't think we'd be super compatible, but in another life it might have been something I'd look into.    I admit, the fishing photos and the dog in a bucket is a good selling point for striking up a conversation with like-minded people.  Best of luck!

I’m curious to know if you’d consider building this dream somewhere outside of the US??

Hello, I loved your story, it is almost the same as mine, only that I am 50 years old and I have myalgic encephalomyelitis, I have the earth, I only lack the forces and a life partner. In Spain, I wish you to do better than me, and find that life partner, hopefully I would have achieved it

Hello, I liked your post and loved the pic of you with the dog in the bucket, super cute! So have you found your mate yet or is there a chance we could talk and see what happens? If you are still available I’d love to hear back from you and go from there...if you are coupled up then I wish you the best in life and all your endeavors.

Angela 😊

Hey there Dev, Nice intro and pics. You didn’t say anything about the gender of your friend, lover, partner… Did you have a gender preference in mind or are you casting a wide open search and see who takes the bait? I would think both women and men would be interested as you’re a handsome guy! Good fishing, Brian(he/him).

Hey you! Been looking for you for a while. I got on here to post my own ad, thinking it would help you to find me, instead I landed on yours... lol anyway... I am currently attempting to build a homestead of my own in west Tennessee on 4 acres. 12x28 house bones done, working on the mechanics. Completely off grid with solar. All paid for, no mortgage!! Hoping to find my "guy" before I finish it. My plan is exactly as you said! CSA garden and or farmers market for the funds needed. It is extremely slow going doing it alone. Been self employed for 12 years doing concessions because the thought of working for someone else most of my life repulsed me. Let's chat!

I am going to test your electrical conductivity with this tiny ad:
GAMCOD 2025: 200 square feet; Zero degrees F or colder; calories cheap and easy
